The availability of raw materials has been on the political agenda since 2011, when prices for rare-earth metals began to skyrocket. The topic is no less relevant for the electrification of the transport sector, because a rapid expansion of the market for electric vehicles will bring with it a rising demand for raw materials. Will ramped up production lead to supply shortages, and hence to increased prices for batteries and fuel cells? This project examines the most important aspects of the issue.
